A rather discontent sounding sigh left my lips as I sit in my own locker room, it is only a few days until the returning episode of Meltdown and while I’m delighted to see it back…I’m a little dismayed by it coming back as a post-pay-per-view show while mostly upset with myself since making my Overdrive debut. Three matches and all three I’ve been the loser of. Sure the first and the third confrontation were for Championships and I wasn’t the berk who took the decisive fall in the first two…but in the third match I was pinned, as if I was the fall girl in this match the other two since they get to have a rematch against each other at Shockwave while I have to sit at the sidelines. Perhaps I have become complacent since finally winning the North American Championship? That would explain why none of my performances, discounting my debut, felt as fluid as they were when I was a hunter.
Another sigh left my licks as I stood up from my bench and pulled a cigarette out from the back-pocket of my jeans. I also pulled out a lighter and lit the cigarette as I placed it in my mouth before inhaling some of the tobacco. Everyone else seem to have successfully moved on from Meltdown yet, if anything, I seem to have gone backwards. While complacency is an obvious reason, could there be another reason? Could it be that I’m a lost little girl without Sienna’s guidance? Or perhaps I’m overrated? Maybe my victory over Guv’nor was a fluke…maybe I was never good enough for the belt that I have, which I have to still wear around my waist as part of regulation, in the first place. Such thoughts and questions haunted my mind as I made my way out of my locker room and all the way to the black curtain where, to the side of it, is the match card of not only Shockwave but also of this special Meltdown show.
“…So we finally get to have our rubber match…”
A faint smile appeared on my lips as I barely uttered out those words. In the main event of this show I get to finally defend the North American Championship, but who would I have to defend it against? Amy Zing, the Hong Kong Sensation who shares a little piece of history with me…well this history was basically her beating me in a ladder match and me literally kicking her out of Meltdown when I knocked her unconscious in that street fight a few months ago. In that strange bedfellows match, a couples of weeks back, it was obvious that Amy still holds some animosity towards me, possibly a tiny bit more than Jace Savage and Niobe Martin. I’m not sure if it is battling the likes of Zing, the fact I’m going to have my first singles match since becoming part of Overdrive or that I’m actually defending my North American Championship but I couldn’t help but smile a little more…at least until I suddenly felt something vibrate on my left buttock.
So I moved my hand back and pulled my mobile out of my other back-pocket before noticing that I’ve got a text message. A more genuine smile appeared on my face as I quietly read the message my darling Shannon just sent me before heading back to my locker room. What am I planning to do? Have a shower and then head off to the Shockwave Access event to interact with the extremely few that would consider themselves to be my fans.
