Prologue
Three days ago I pinned Cash Johnson and the week before I pinned the former Titans Champion Dolph Ziggler yet these victories feel hollow…both of these matches felt purposeless…every night feels more and more empty as I lie down without the warmth of my Television Championship. Five days though, I was literally just five days away from joining the elites who possess two hundred day reigns…yet now all those days of hard work comes to nothing. The ends justifies the means yet does that mean that my Television Title reign was nothing worth noting? Without that Championship there is absolutely no way I would ever hope of competing at Shattered Dreams, thus making it the first pay-per-view in my even or eight month career that doesn’t feature me in a match…but then last night I got a call my good friend and agent Nathan Kyle. Not too long ago Dolph Ziggler requested another leave of absence, which might tragically turn into a release, due to personal reasons thus leaving Eric McKay without a challenger for his Titans Championship at Shattered Dreams…so Kyle took me that he hooked up with the General Manager of Adrenaline and convinced him to let me have a match at Shattered Dreams, an one-on-one match against Kevin Kilbourne with the winner facing Eric later in the night for the Titans Championship. Could losing the TV Title be an omen for towards the possibility of me becoming the Titans Champion? Perhaps, or maybe I have the luckiest damn agent in the world…either way, I’m not letting this opportunity slip through my hands as I’ll get to show the people of Brooklyn why I am still Rated: AWESOME!
WHAT IS A TRUE CHAMPION
The location of today’s promo is at some kind of restaurant in Brooklyn and at a table for two, by a window, is not only one Lilith Shadow but also the former Television Champion Adrian Jobs. Like expected of a high class woman Lilith is wearing a posh looking ice blue dress but wait a second…Adrian Jobs is actually wearing a tuxedo! The same guy who came to an award ceremony in his ring gear is actually wearing a formal suit at this very moment, clearly the Chicago born superstar is trying to somewhat impress his psychotherapist. She seem to be talking about the possibility of the Titans Championship being what he needs to overcome his missing Television Title, since Nathan did inform her of Jobs’ Shattered Dreams possibility moments after telling the male himself, yet Adrian wasn’t paying attention to what she was saying. The main reason for this was because the male’s eyes keep wandering, gorging itself in the beauty of the woman in front of him. So much so that, while he was filling his glass with wine, Adrian accidentally overfilled it as the liquid went down the side of his glass and stained the blanket around it. It was a bit embarrassing yet Miss Shadow couldn’t help but giggle at this.
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Maybe I should fill the glasses next time.”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“That could possibly be a brilliant idea if you don’t want any wine to accidentally fall into your meal.”
After hearing his words Miss Shadow chuckled again and the male smiled at this, glad to see that he can make her laugh. After a short while their meals has arrived. For Adrian he had some kind of garnished up chicken with some chip encircling it while the female has a big yet very fancied up salad with a small steak. With the knife in her right hand and the fork in her left Lilith cut out a small piece of the steak before putting it into her mouth and began to chew it. The former Champion tried to be formal like with cutting his chicken but after again found himself looking up the black haired female instead as he accidentally missed the plate, thus dropping the knife on the floor. A faint blushed appeared on Adrian’s face as he realised that her beauty is distracting him from doing anything but before he bent down to grab the fallen knife, Lilith laughed rather sweetly.
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Don’t worry Mi…Adrian, I’ve realised that you aren’t use to being so formal…it is quite sweet to see you at least trying, but there is no need to push yourself for too much in your first try. Like with me trying to not call you mister, you need to practice more and more before you can be fully formal.”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Heh…that is true.”
The male replied after bending down, grabbing the knife and placing it back on the table. Lilith continued to eat some of the steak and quite a decent bit of the salad but she was rather surprised to see that, by the time half her meat was eaten, Jobs’ entire plate was spotless. Now it was Adrian’s turn to give out a slight chuckle.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Sorry about that, it just tasted so good.”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Its nothing…I was just surprised to see so much move disappear so quickly. Don’t you ever get indigestion?”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Only once I suffered indigestion and that was when Nathan tricked me into trying a kangaroo burger…”
That comment actually caused Lilith to burst out laughing but this quickly stopped as many other people in the restaurant looked over towards her, as if she was a paedophile within a nursery. The female’s face was instantly coated with a scarlet blush as Jobs decided to chuckled lightly at how pretty she looked, even when blushing.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Sorry about that.”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“It wasn’t you, I was just so loud…maybe we could change the subject of our conversation.”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Okay…er…the weather sure looks alright today.”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Hehe, I guess you’re not good with conversations.”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Well, I’m only not good at talking to beautiful women…”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“What!?!”
Lilith immediately spoke as now both of them had their faces covered with a bright red blush. After ten awkwardly silent minutes, with Shadow eating some more of her salad and Jobs drinking his pintsize beer, the young woman decided to finally speak up.
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Fr-From what Mi…Nathan has informed me, this match you have at Shattered Dreams is against a guy calling himself Kevin Kilbourne. I don’t know a lot about him though…can you tell me something about him.”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Well if that is your wish then how can I say no? Kevin Kilbourne is quite a unique chap among the Adrenaline roster, he’s both very experienced but also quite crafty at the same time…yet he seems to be more of an enigma than a massive threat. On the last episode of Adrenaline, Kevin defeated Dolph to have his first meaningful victory in a very long time…yet he somehow managed to get at least three shots at the World Heavyweight Title. Yes I know that Kevin has got a long history of success after success after success and yes, the crowning moment of my debuting night was having a beer with him after he gave Nathan Parker a beer bath…but his success here, in WEW, is so tiny that even Thumbelina would look like a giant compared to it. I’m sure that without a shadow of a doubt Kevin is a certified hall of famer once this company finally creates one for all the amazingly insane wackiness he has done…from trying to break into Winter Warzone, from two years ago, with a mini-tank to spending an entire pay-per-view last year in the crowd with signs about himself not being booked on the show. But his time came, it went to pass and now it is time for others to soar above while he takes the low road…I know that does sound mean, especially considering that Kevin still has more talent than half the Animosity roster, but when you look into his eyes during his matches and even during some of his promos…you can just tell he feels completely drained, as if pondering what is truly next for him. Kevin will forever be a respected individual but while he is busy getting more wrinkles than victories, I have a career to boost and improve. We both defeated Dolph Ziggler and I swear we both won the other matches we had during the past two weeks, so we’re both on a decent amount of momentum…but what is going to happen at Shattered Dreams is me entering this match, take the beat he got and give it all back to him before pinning him one, two, three.”
Adrian personally made sure that his words weren’t loud, so the strangers within the restaurant won’t be glaring over towards them, as he spoke them out. Lilith was eating her meal slowly, enjoying the taste of each bite, as her eyes considered wandering around to see his figure but the therapist shook that thought out of her head as the male continued to speak to her.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“I’m sure that Kevin will say something about how it ain’t going to be that easy but here is a little fact about me that you might not know. While I did beat Serenity at Beach brawl for the Television Championship the person I actually beat for that Title shot was none other than Kevin Kilbourne. It was the main event of Anarchy and to tell the truth, he was completely kicking my ass from the get go…no matter what I did I he was dominant until I capitalised on one moment, hit my Awesome Neckbreaker and scored the win. That was about three weeks into my rookie career while it could possibly be year number whatever for Kev…eight months on and he gets his chance of redemption but I defeated his creativity when I was a rookie. Now I am a megastar while he has hardly changed at all, so now I am the favourite in our excursion and I plan on repeating my victory over him. It doesn’t matter how hard Kevin hits me, it doesn’t matter if he rides a mini-tank into the building and it doesn’t matter if he has been looking up some Christina Hawkins girl or not. What matters is the damn fact that I have beaten him before and I can easily defeat him again, be it televised in front of millions or in the back yard of his mother’s house. Sure he might be able to become Television Champion one day but this is about a shot at the Titans Championship and, quite frankly, he doesn’t have what it takes to be a True Champion anymore.”
It was nice to see that Adrian’s aura of confidence seem to have fully healed from losing the Television Championship. Perhaps the prospects of becoming the Titans Champion is a better cure than people expected. Halfway through his words Lilith finally finished her meat and slowly began to eat her salad, expecting the male to speak up a little more. And just like she expected the Chicago male finished off his beer before speaking yet again.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“The Titans Championship was practically a training simulator for the World Championship. The moment you’ve won it people put their eyes on you to see if you have what it takes to hold a Championship of some high calibre…take note of the word ‘was’ since that belt has taken the biggest nosedive I’ve ever witness. During my reign as Television Champion I’ve heard many people say ‘hey why are you carrying that third tier Adrian?’ ‘you’re too good for that belt Adrian’ and ‘that belt will be nothing more than a curtain jerker’s Title’ but frankly, by the end of twenty-twelve…the Television Championship became ten times more important than the Titans Championship. Could it be the lacklustre quality of all the Champions that held it? Could it be how amazing I was as the Television Champion? I don’t know but winning the Title off Eric McKay at Shattered Dreams could be the key to the restoration of that belt’s importance…but frankly I don’t care since it’s the holder that makes the Title, not the Title making the holder.
Yeah I’ve heard that Eric McKay is good, and the way he won that Championship in that Las Vegas Street Fight was quite cool…hell, he was Blaire Andrews partner when they beat both me and Ziggler in a tag team match near the start of the year, but the one thing I truly think whenever I look at him is this…he doesn’t look like the Champion that people could be truly believe in. Yes he took Shad Layne to the limit but overall he lost and while he has been screwing Dolph over two weeks in a row, he hasn’t been in the ring much. So clearly he lacks the dedication of a True Champion. I’ve just realised something, out of the three of us, this guy will have the most obvious of advantages since while he’ll be in the best shape imaginable…both me and Kev will be completely out of it since we would have been kicking each other’s ass. But hey I have made massive upsets before, like that victory over Rhiannon a few couple of weeks ago for a recent example, so beating this self-proclaimed OG won’t be too hard to make happen. So yeah Eric can take every single trick and move he has learned from being a gangster in Boston and put me through the worst kind of hell ever imagined. Yet, being ‘The Main Event’ that I am, I’m going to withstand all the beatings he can give and give it all back. Hell I’ll even kick out of that Boston Massacre move if I have to just so I can give him a massacre of my own…a special Chicago scented Brooklyn style massacre as I not only defeat Kevin Kilbourne, but also beat him to take the Titan Championship to the standard that it should have always been. But back to what I said about Kevin…about what it takes to be a True Champion…
A True Champion isn’t somebody who wears a piece of gold for sixty odd days without once putting it on the line, neither is a True Champion somebody who holds the belt for a measly fifteen days. A True Champion is someone who people can look up to. A True Champion is somebody who embodies the pride, dreams and hopes of all that follows him or her. A True Champion is a leader that’ll take adversity straight on stand tall time and time again. And even without a Championship bet a True Champion would still give everything he or she has for the sake of those that still follow them. Kevin Kilbourne has had at least three World Title shots and every-single-time he failed. People could possibly say that the likes of Slash, Ryan whatever-his-last-name-is and Ryan Jackson were all better on the night but the real reason is a lot simpler as it is the same reason why I will defeat him in the Barclays Center this Sunday……because he no longer has what it takes to be a True Champion while I am a True Champion. He has done a lot of things that have been worthy of gold but in the end I am simply better than that shadow of what he use to be. Because I’m Adrian Jobs…and I’m…”
Even though having her salad Lilith managed to maintain complete eye-contact with the bearded man as he spoke out his words, somehow not noticing that Adrian is checking out her face. Even though barely managing to hide it the thought ‘man, she’s hot,’ to flowing within his mind as he began to finish his words with his classic phrase. Last time Miss Shadows expected him to shout he ended up whispering into her ears so the female decided to wait for him to finish his words after she finished off her salad. Five seconds of awkwardly slow silence went pass before the male spoke up.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Well?”
That one worded question has clearly puzzled the female, evidenced by her facial expression, and the twenty-four year old simply chuckled at this before deciding to explain his question.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Well are you going to finish it?”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Finish what?”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“My phrase. I’m Adrian Jobs and I’m…”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“………Awesome?”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“There you go.”
The male said with classically cheesy grin, which happen to have caused the therapist to giggle. He found her giggle quite sweet before noticing that she as finished her meal. So the self-proclaimed ‘AWESOME! One’ waved over the nearest waiter with his right hand. His left moving down one of his pockets to grab his wallet
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“I’ll pay for the meal.”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Are you sure about that Adrian? This place isn’t what people call cheap…”
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Yes I’m sure…and Lilith, it was rather nice to hear finally say my name without such formality.”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Thank you…for both the compliment and the meal, especially considering it might be our last one together.”
While having their discussion Adrian handed out the money needed, to pay for their high quality meals, to the waiter and it was at the moment the two got off the table, beginning to head for the door, that Lilith admitted that this could be their last meal together.
AWESOME! ONE, ADRIAN JOBS
“Last one…why?”
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“Because if what Nathan predicted, in all you need to feel better is another Championship, is true…then you won’t be needing my services anymore.”
While saying her words the two got outside the restaurant as each one of her last eight words felt like a bullet to Adrian’s heart. He seem to be unable to think of a reply to those words so Miss Shadow decided to speak up yet again.
JOBS’ PSYCHOTHERAPIST, LILITH SHADOW
“I’ll repeat my gratitude…thank you for the meal Adrian. And I wish you good luck with Shattered Dreams.”
After saying her words Lilith smiled lightly towards the male while a cab showed up nearby. Without getting a response from Adrian the young woman strolled over to the cab, waved her client goodbye and entered the vehicle before it drove off. Almost like with every movie, the moment she left was the moment rain began to fall down as Adrian still seem unsure on what to say or do. His right hand touched his cheek to find, out of all things, a tear…why is there a tear on his face? That question was rampaging through his mind as the bearded man finally began to walk away in the rain, most likely towards the hotel he is staying at.
Epilogue
Here I am in Brooklyn, mentally preparing myself for my rematch against Kilbourne. Some people may say he has lost it but I know the simple truth that he is still dangerous now as he have ever been. This might actually be the make or break moment of his WEW career so I can guarantee that he is going to be one tough son of a gun to beat tonight. I’ve been in this arena since eight in the morning, getting myself pumped up for this almost once in a lifetime match….can I replicate Beach Brawl tonight? Or will Kilbourne stop my momentum? Or will Eric McKay capitalise on me being battered by one of the most creative men in Adrenaline? NO! There is no point in doubting myself now, everyone doubted me when I faced the Television Champion Serenity and I shocked the world…I been there, I’ve done it and now it is time for me to STEP UP to a new level. Eric McKay might be some OG but frankly that won’t save him from a new upset in the form of me not only beating Kilbourne but also walking out of Brooklyn, New York, as the NEW Titans Champion. But wait…if I win, that would mean that I won’t need Lilith’s psychotherapy anymore. I don’t want her to go though, yet I want to be Titans Champion at the same time…what should I do? Throw the match or lose the girl that practically dragged me out of the sorrow of losing my Television Title? I can hear my theme quietly starting up as I stand behind this curtain and after the three claps were sounded I practically threw myself through those curtains. No more time to doubt myself, or pump my ego, now is the time to Adrian Jobs…time to shock the world…time to be awesome…again.
Three days ago I pinned Cash Johnson and the week before I pinned the former Titans Champion Dolph Ziggler yet these victories feel hollow…both of these matches felt purposeless…every night feels more and more empty as I lie down without the warmth of my Television Championship.
