WE ARE MAVERICK, WE WON’T GIVE IN UNTIL WE WIN THIS GAME | |
name Average tagged @yoshiharukubo words 749 notes As a Brown Belt in GKR Karate I found some fun in writing this. | “The most important thing about martial arts is self-defence…” Those words are what welcomes us as our vision fades into…someone’s living room. One with a table with a few chairs around it, a television surrounded by multiple consoles and a black velvet sofa being the most noticeable things around. Though the reason for the last object getting our attention is because Otaki happens to be sitting on it as she smiles toward us. “Sure there is the improvement of one’s toughness - the physical, spiritual and emotional kind - as well helping one manage their own temperament and even the possibility of helping one discover and develop their own identity…but at the end of the day martial arts, like karate for one example, are mostly about defending one’s self. That matter is ingrained throughout its history afterall, from the peasants of the late Sengoku period to the modern person wanting to protect themselves from buggering muggers.” Knowing that our focus is solely on her, she leans back with an obvious scent of relaxation in her body language…not one of someone supposedly preparing for a hard battle this Sunday. “So with those kinds of skills it is more than understandable why Terry Kilgore would consider trying his hands at professional wrestling. Hell it would be much harder for the average person to argue against his chances of making a success for himself. While the self-defence aspect more than proves itself as a nightmare for any grappler that needs to get within Terry’s range to attack…there are two, rather important, factors in karate…experience and wisdom - with certain schools requiring years to grade up from one belt to another belt - and no one can possibly question the experience and wisdom he gathered throughout his fifty-two years of life. Sure there are some that could say such age would hinder their speed and would seek to outrun him…but the mental durability of a martial artist can help one withstand such a setback as the impact of a well timed, and placed, punch is better than the impact of many other things. Add in whatever teachings he could be getting from Yoshiharu Kubo then who knows what the overall limit could be for Terry. Hell he could end up becoming Champion soon enough as, with all his qualities, no average person could possibly stop him.” The twenty-nine year old leans forward again and shoots us an uncomfortably familiarly arrogant smirk. “But I’m no average person.” Instead of explaining herself, Otaki gets up from the sofa and walks past us to leave our view. That however didn’t stop her from continuing to speak, though with a slightly heightened volume so we can still hear her. “Another important thing about martial arts is the overall variety of it. There are some focusing more on strikes, like Muay Thai and karate, while others prioritise holds and throws, like Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo. So much variety in fact that the world of mixed martial arts was born for these practitioners to compete and compare their skills to and against each other…” Remerging into our view The Emo Princess sits back down in front of us, this time however with a freshly polished Championship belt across her lap. “You see this? This is Caged Glory FC’s Imperial Championship, a somewhat prestigious MMA Championship, and six years and seven days ago I not only won this belt but also became the last ever holder of it. To win this Title, as well as successfully defend it at CGFC’s final event a few weeks later, I had to overcome two separate masters of strikes and not only did I overcome them both, I knocked the first one out while making the other tap out. So when I say how much of a threat Terry Kilgore is, you damn well should take every word seriously…just like you should know that I am the worst person for him to face if he ever hoped to achieve any form of victory at PRIME. He may become a great one day and is capable against the average competitor…” The Englishwoman leans forward once more to have us focus more on the arrogant smirk that reappears upon her face. “My time is now and I am definitely no average competitor.” Sharply leaves Otaki’s lips as immediately afterwards she gets back up to her feet and walks past us once more, leaving us to fade to black. |
